Hey guys.
With all the crazy things happening over at WLD ‘09, Bone, Kev, Daren and I have barely been getting any sleep… but regardless, here’s a little information about WLD ‘09 for you and the rest of the Insiders if you haven’t checked it out yet. =)
It’s an online event jointly organized by us, The Virts, as well as Bone, the crazy awesome “Legendary” Vietnamese card flourisher who is a great friend of ours.
WLD’09 features one of the craziest card flourishes ever:
A Little Bit of History
Supported by some of the largest names in the magic and card flourishing industry, what was initially a small project turned into an entire event, and a pretty big one at that.
Each of these guys have huge newsletter lists and artists in their community, and one of our partners is inviting over 195,000 magicians and card flourishers over to WLD ‘09.
So in total, there are about 338,000 magicians and card flourishers that will be sent an invitation over to WLD ‘09 soon. (Of course, we invited you guys first.)
We really didn’t think anyone would believe that there would be 338,000 people invited though, so we gave it a rough 78,000 instead to kinda play things down a little. =)
Anyway, there’s gonna be lots going on over at WLD ‘09 over the next two weeks, and we’ve prepared lots of solid free content over there while the event builds, all which have been getting some really great feedback from the people attending.
I think everyone’s favorite so far is the “bloody” potentially-controversial handbook we’re giving away called “Death to the Noobs.” So do check it out in the WLD2009 members section, because I think you’ll like it. It’s gold if you can keep an open mind. =D
The Big Question
I guess the big questions that everyone is asking is:
“Will you guys finally be releasing the new updated technique of the Anaconda?”
The answer to the question is… Yup, we will, but we won’t be releasing it to every single person over at WLD ‘09.
We’ve created a pretty sick DVD that’s cost us quite a lot to produce… but we personally think it was worth every penny and bit of effort required.
I know that a lot of people think that $72,000 is an insane amount to put into a DVD production… but I guess we’re just weird perfectionists like that. ;)
So call us crazy or whatever… but we wanna make sure that when you get the DVD, it’s gonna be an insane viewing and learning experience. (One of the coolest bits about the updated technique is that it allows the Anaconda to be way longer than before, and much easier to execute at the same time. Sweet!)
Roland, our music guy, even composed an original score for the entire DVD, so every piece of music sounds ridiculously amazing and is perfectly timed to every movement, cut, transition and fade.
I’ve even put the Anaconda Soundtrack on my iPod because the music’s so good it keeps playing in my head all day. =D (You can hear some of the music in the Event Introduction video at WLD ‘09, and in the YouTube event teaser that we posted up.)

The track in the teaser is called “Mannequin”, named off one of Bone’s signature card flourishes that’s going to be included as one of the bonuses in the Anaconda DVD as well.

P.S. I think this DVD will completely transform things for the people who have tried learning the old technique for the Anaconda, especially since most people have tried to learn it off a weird, unofficial .pdf file with cute accompanying text, or Bone’s old 60 cm dribble video. Fail. ;)
If you’ve seen the teaser video you’ll know what I mean. The new Anaconda is absolutely massive… and makes the old “60 cm Dribble” seriously look like a tiny tree snake. =D

Yes and no – we will definitely still be releasing some of our signature moves, tips and techniques through Insiders in the future, though on the other hand we will also be pushing forward with other projects of a larger scale. And for particularly expansive projects as the Anaconda, the amount of detail and depth does require more time, effort, and money, hence the decision to place it all in a convenient DVD format.

Firstly, hats off to your VirtsTV productions and this idea of a one-of-a-kind WLD09 event.
Next, regarding the contest to win the Anaconda DVD, I’m an amateur flourisher, will I still stand a chance to win this contest?
Its going to be a pity for the amateurs flourisher/magicians here who cannot get a chance to purchase this because “who-aint-good-enough-flourishers”

Hey Alvin,
If you’ve seen the Crazy Ones Competition page, you’ll see that one of the first requirements for joining is:
“Your video does NOT have to contain card flourishes.”
Which means that even if you don’t do a single flourish in the video, as long as you show the cards at least once, you’ll still be eligible for participation. After all, we’re judging the comp based not on card moves, but to how well you adhere to the theme.

What do you mean by contest though?
Is it the winner will get a free copy?
I just want to make sure that I can get a copy for free or not I dont care If I have to Pay $20 for it or something I just want it.
In the WLD ‘09 Members Area, you’ll see a post in there called “The Crazy Ones Competition”. Click on that for further details on what you stand to win, and what you’ll have to do to win it. (The winners will get a free, signed copy of the Anaconda DVD, and more).
Even if you don’t win or participate, you can still buy the DVD during the launch period. It will be a limited release, though, so do act fast if you want to secure yourself a copy!

I’ve been watching all your guys vids and tricking my deck everyday since I became enticed by the world of card flourishes with your help. You guys are doing a amazing job and we all can see that you put a lot of effort in creating a cardflourishers scene of which everyone can be proud of to be part of it…thank you guys!!

Hey Chris!! Thanks for your comment! We really appreciate that you like our work and are proud to be part of this scene we’re doing our best to build up. =) It’s great to receive messages like yours because we’ve been getting so little sleep over the past few weeks and stuff like that just helps push us to keep going. =D
The DVD will be released on the 18th, for a limited period of time.
We really wish that everyone will be able to get themselves a copy, but we have about 300 new people joining us at WLD 09 every day who want it and most of the invites from our partners haven’t even been sent out yet!! I just hope nobody will get mad at us if they don’t get it on time. =(
There’ll be a Reservation List up soon so look out for that yeah. =)

Guess what. It’s gonna be the first DVD ever that’s designed for both left and right handed card flourishers. Two handed pop up on the screen when you pop the DVD in, allowing you to select a hand to customize your teaching style. WOOT!!!

for god sick hell……. i cant sleep, i cant wait, another awesome flourish will be release… when… when… when…? : )
i’ve been playing cards for a year now but i didn’t have access to proper cards and they’re are expensive as i’m in malaysia (the transport fee is ridiculous) and i need to order the cards. so, maybe you guys can give more access to good playing cards and less price for insiders. i only have 1 good playing cards, the bicycle shadow master deck which i realise is not 4 flourishing. i wanna buy tally ho but i spend all my money on the wrong deck. so, pliz.. playing cards? even the best cardman won’t improve with bad cards.
